Jaded

I've become pretty bored / annoyed / sick of the Internet Dating Scene. I mean I've been doing it for maybe 6 months, and it's just gotten old. Right now, I'm on e-harmony, match, and yahoo personals. And I feel pretty much like I'm tossing money away. I was just complaining to my friend watergyrl about how the whole e-mail, phone conversation, get-your-hopes-up, anticipation, then final meeting, and major dissapointment process is about as fun as the healing process of a deep flesh wound in reverse. I read a quote on CNN today that said "I've come to this conclusion -- there are not a whole lot of good-looking women on these dating sites," he wrote. "'Average' (in a profile) means fat, 'extra pounds' means bring a defibrillator to the date."

With some exceptions, I've found that to be the case.

So, what's up? Anybody got ideas why this is the case? Is it because I live in Draino? Is the single scene here just too damn lame? Or is it me? Am I too much of a spaz?

I help Millie

Today I went over to a co-worker of a close friend of mine's house and "fixed" her computer. It was the usual suspects, all sorts of spyware, not patched in ages, expired versions of Norton / McAffee, etc. Installed Ad-aware, ClamWin, Mozilla Firefox 0.9, did all the updates, showed her how to run ad-aware, and Firefox, and explained some of the things I was doing and the reasons why. She was also having problems logging into hotmail via I.E. - It worked using Firefox, something to do with .Net password being hosed. - I didn't have the time to figure it out.

I did it because I was happy to help her out, and spread the "open source" philosophy. I wish it didn't take me so long though. Time's funny that way. You always seem to need more of it. I ate about 1/2 dozen of the Oatmeal cookies she baked for me before I got back to the office. They were delicious.

I kind of got lost on the way back which kind of annoyed me. And it took longer than I thought. So, I was a little late getting back to the office.

But, It's good karma right? I think so...
